Compare Scout's relationship with Uncle Jack (Atticus' brother) to her relationship with Aunt Alexandra (2023)

Engels Primary school

Response

Answer 1

Scout and Jem don't really like Aunt Alexandra for most of the novel. Their aunt is from the old southern school of etiquette. She does not approve of the way Atticus is raising his children. She thinks they have far too much freedom to play and express their opinions. Aunt Alexandra thinks that Scout in particular is not behaving like a proper young lady.

Jack is fatherly, but Scout feels she can confide in him; He
keeps his secrets and she trusts him.

2. Explain why it is important for manufacturers to conduct market research. Give at least one example of a type of market research that manufacturers conduct. Explain what kind of information this research provides.

Response

- Demographic research: Find out which age groups like your product best. The information that comes from this research can be used to know which people to focus your sales efforts on.
- Geographic research: Find out where your product is more popular. Cities? Farmland? Near schools? New York? The information from this research can be used to determine the best places to sell your product.
Utility measures the preferences people have for various goods and services. Another way of saying this is that utility tells you how much people value certain goods and services and how much satisfaction they get from consuming them. Utility differs between individuals because people have different preferences. Some may get a lot of benefit/satisfaction from consuming coca-cola, while others get more benefit from consuming water.
Consumer behavior is simply determined by the utility people derive from the goods and services they consume. Knowledge of this tool explains what a person is likely to consume as he or she will consume the products that give him or her the greatest benefit
- The market for a particular product or service is dominated by a small number of producers.
- In an oligopoly, it is often more difficult for new producers to enter the market due to high barriers. Think about technological barriers (the knowledge of production is difficult to understand/find (e.g. the aircraft industry)), financial barriers (production requires a lot of (start-up) capital), patents, limited access to essential resources or the fact that the production costs of products dominated by an oligopoly usually falls as output increases (this makes it difficult for small new firms to enter the market).
- Is that people often stick to what they know. So more competition cannot overcome that loyalty; the new producers would simply lose money and go bankrupt.
- Another reason could be that if you only have 3 or 4 competitors, you as a producer are better able to raise the price if you know that all your competitors will do the same.
- A high rating means that there is less need to convince people through advertising that your product is worth consuming.
- I suppose this means that a greater prevalence of a certain product means that people are more familiar with it, and therefore less advertising is needed to sell it.
