KMC forense>star war>> I don't understand it, can someone explain to me why Obi wants...
fjord
Why did Obi Wan Kenobi disappear after being hit by Vader's lightsaber?
And why did he let Darth Vader kill him? Has no sense!!!!!!!
jasos
That's the problem... it's the ghost's trick...
GL said that to solve it you would have to "crack" this...
"If you knock me down, I'll be more powerful than you can imagine"
However, there is nothing definitive about the theories today, this is explained in 2005, at least Mc Callum claims...
Most people think it has to do with prophecy.
Uschgarak
The point is that Vader didn't kill Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan vanished first.
Obi-Wan knew that escaping from where he was would be difficult, and Luke and company were too busy watching him to move. He knew that he could still perform the ghost trick and continue to teach Luke if things got worse. And suddenly it occurred to him that it was actually better to do it right now: VAder would think he was dead, but in reality he was free to continue helping Luke in ghost form!
And with that, the dark side was outwitted.
jasos
and yoda and father?
Uschgarak
Yoda was dying anyway.
How Anakin did it is the key to the puzzle.
But none of that matters to this particular question of why Obi-Wan let Vader "kill" him.
jasos
If he was just "dying" GQJ would have disappeared, and if you can explain that every single one of those Jedi disappears, you've solved it.
LaurenE147
How do you know which faded first?
jasos
because if they had hit him with the saber they would have cut him in two, a reference to the wampa, the alien from the cantina whose name I forgot, etc.
LaurenE147
Yoda died and then disappeared.
Uschgarak
No, he disappeared before he died.
There was no contact with Obi-Wan.
Para Macco
What are you talking about?
Yoda died. I don't know what movie you saw. He was dead, his eyes were closed, and he was out of breath.
run
I think if they are prepared for their deaths then they can just surrender to the squad and fully join the squad shortly before while QGJ wasn't ready/expected to die so just died.
jasos
If so, it's a known trick among the Jedi and Anakin/Vader would have known about it so he wouldn't be surprised in ANH.
run
Unless not all Jedi know, only the really strong ones or Jedi Masters, Anakin wasn't taught this and he wasn't a Jedi Master so obviously Vader won't know either.
jasos
Why shouldn't I know? The teachers etc they die all the time, people would know that, almost everyone would know that if it were true.
run
Then I have another theory, maybe it's something you can only find through years of meditation, old Ben hiding in the tattoos could find the time and energy to make himself more powerful to find and thus find the answer to how to do it. Vader was surprised that Obi-Wan was so much more in tune with power than he imagined.
jasos
If you can get it with years of meditation, others will find it in the jedi temple too, there are enough jedi who meditate for a long time for people to know that too.
Uschgarak
And Anakin doesn't explain that.
And people don't die like that, To. A man who dies of old age or even of disease does not die immediately after having spoken. Yoda entered the Force before he died.
false
That's a lot of crap my grandmother made. She talked about the good life she'd had and then her eyes stared into space and she was dead.
Also about Yoda, I would say he faded and died before he disappeared and we don't see Anakin disappear at all.
Uschgarak
Did it fade away and die before disappearing? That makes no sense; You faded it twice.
If you say that's how your grandmother died, I can hardly disagree, but 99% of the time people don't die from that awareness unless they die suddenly with an ax to the head or in a car accident. They fall unconscious and then die.
But anyway, it's not that important and if you want to believe they died "first", feel free.
Meanwhile, Anakin was seen in ghost form and almost certainly disappeared.
false
I was going to say that his life slipped away and he died and then he disappeared.
Uschgarak
caught. Maybe.
Steal
I think the reason Qui Gon didn't disappear is simply because he didn't know how to do it... and in episodes 2 and 3... when the Jedi die... Yoda... Obiwan... .and some of the remaining Jedi are learning to return because they know they must... and that's why Obi Wan knows how to do it and Jin doesn't...
I believe
LaurenE147
They said it would be answered in number two. So the world may never know.
Mujaffa
Obi-Wan was one with the Force when Vader cut him in two...
It wasn't Qui-Gon when Maul impaled him with his red staff.
Feuer
Well, I guess it's all down to how good of a Jedi you are.
Of course, since Vader is the chosen one, he can fade away.
OB1 is one of the best jedi left in the Old Testament, which is why he's fading
Yoda, you need no further explanation if that's the theory.
how much i love qgj (question yes i think the guy owns) he wasn't powerful enough as a jedi to fade
Uschgarak
It is NOT this theory, but it would also happen in the story. Does not have.
Feuer
could be, well I don't know the whole story so I'm sorry
Feuer
I didn't know you used EU ush otherwise I must hear or see about other jedi fadin in the movies besides these 3.
I haven't heard or seen it, but it could be
jasos
"Someday I'll even learn how to stop people from dying"
Anakin, EpII
Feuer
Yes maybe
jasos
that could reinforce the idea that it is about prophecy
Feuer
Yes, possibly, in fact, the chances of it being related to the prophecy are pretty good.
julia
What prophecy?
jasos
that someone will balance the power
Uschgarak
This has nothing to do with EU, fire.
Everything we have in the movies makes it clear that the vanishing trick is NOT something Jedi normally do. The key point is
"Take me down and I'll be more powerful than you can imagine," followed by Vader's confusion over the missing body.
This has never happened before; it's exclusive to the Jedi in those movies.
Feuer
Yes, it could have to do with the prophecy, but it's still possible that these three are special Jedi for some reason, not just because of the prophecy.
jasos
good luck i think
Feuer
maybe, but that's why it's called luck
nha now it probably has to do with the prophecy
jasos
"In my experience, there is no such thing as happiness"
Captain REX
I think it has more to do with Anakin, the Skywalker family and the prophecy of the chosen one. I don't know why, it just makes more sense than the other theories.
But the line that Ush keeps repeating probably has something to do with it.
run
Perhaps Obi-Wan had meditated on Tattooine for many years and figured out how to become one with the Force, or rediscovered an ancient Jedi trick for doing so.
Uschgarak
Well, since this seems to have become a major plot point, I doubt it. Again, if it could only be detected, someone would have done it sooner.
false
true, and especially by Sith who spend a lot of time alone. That means being only two
Mujaffa
I don't think he ever learned
Dark Lord Djas
Keep in mind that this is just another theory. Maybe Yoda knew about this and just wanted it to be used for emergencies. When the Jedi were nearly wiped out, he taught this to Obi-Wan in case something happened to him and he needed to do something else of great importance. And Darth Vader probably figured out how to do it in Ep V.
Uschgarak
I doubt Vader had any idea until he went back to being Anakin.
GordonSkywalker
A very interesting mystery that we seem to be solving... I've always wondered if Yoda and Obi-Wan disappear after they die. However, supposedly the transformed Anakin did the same, leaving only Vader's armor behind. However, looking at a dark passage in "Champions of the Force" (the final book in Kevin Anderson's Jedi Academy trilogy), Luke Skywalker wonders why his body didn't disappear when he thought he was dead from the betrayal of one of their students at the Academy. He supposed that meant he wasn't a true Jedi Master. However, as we all know, he wasn't actually dead, he was just a ruse by the Sith Lord in the book. Whatever the reason for the disappearance, Luke didn't know how to do it. Which only serves to dig into our little secret...
Uschgarak
Not that we can count the EU sources.
GordonSkywalker
Apparently some do, judging by several entries stored in this database.
Uschgarak
Your mistake.
GordonSkywalker
Let's not get fussy about the technical details. Either way, it is certainly a very intriguing topic.
false
it is still EU and as ush said not accountant
GordonSkywalker
As a kid growing up watching the original Star Wars (aka A New Hope), I was always fascinated by Obi-Wan's famous vanishing trick seconds before Vader's lightsaber blade sliced him in half. I never understood why or how he disappeared like that unless he was able to continue to guide Luke through the ways of the Force and eventually send him to Dagobah like in ESB.
Dagoth Sur
Silly if you've seen the 3rd movie (the 6th was made) it says at the end that Quigon-jin found a way to revive himself so maybe Obi-Wan contacted Yoda and Darth Sidios showed Darth Vader how do it. and explain all your problems. And they could just forcefully bind their minds

How much further could this prophecy have been from the truth!
SS_181st_Nieve
If people keep watching ANH, Obi-Wan will disappear before Vader connects with him because his cloak isn't cut in half. And as for the vanishing trick, I agree that only Jedi willing to die do it, and we haven't heard of it in the past because it has no plot relevance. And besides, any Jedi can learn the path to immortality and spiritual form, that is, Qui-Gon did not disappear, but he discovered it and taught it to others. That's just my two cents.
Uschgarak
Yes, it's good to dig up a year old thread.
(sighs)
Please try to be sensible when posting.
SB- clear and canon by GL himself, the vanish/ghost cheat has NEVER been done before.
"because it has nothing to do with the plot"
Completely wrong - it was of HUGE relevance because it matters that Vader didn't know what Obi-Wan could do.
Captain REX
Wow, old fight revived… heh…
Do you think it's possible that, like Qui-Gon did with Yoda, Yoda or Ben or even Qui-Gon came to Vader and taught him how to do it? Or that he was just the chosen one and didn't have to learn it?
SS_181st_Nieve
Well, maybe he was taught in the afterlife, and it doesn't seem like it's hard to learn just to hone like Yoda learned at what. 20 minutes of conversation? But she had all the time to perfect it.

If the Jedi are at peace when they die, or prepare to be, they become one with the Force and disappear.
Uschgarak
How can people have seen all the movies now and still think that?
trick
When Yoda talked to Obi-Wan about this (this is cut from the movie, but I still see it as a cannon), he said that Obi-Wan could learn to maintain his consciousness under Qui-Gon's training, when he transforms into the Strength and "maybe" his physical self. And that's why Qui-Gon probably didn't have a physical self when he Force-transformed, because there's no certainty you'll ever get it. Maybe the strength actually has something to do with it. The database says that Anakin did return with the help of Obi-Wan and Yoda. I think it takes more time to learn alone than with the help of others.

And Qui-Gon Jinn discovered the technique of magical spirits.
Vader quickly became a good guy and was rewarded with a young body.
Palpatine should have done that too!
trick
The reason why Anakin is still young as a ghost is because this can only be achieved through compassion. Anakin died as a Jedi in Episode III, reincarnated as Darth Vader, and died as Darth Vader. So Anakin's soul comes back young, because like I said, he died young.
señor
It is symbolic, but still meaningless.
six
trick
Yes, Qui-Gon said it was a technique that could only be performed through compassion and not greed, therefore no Sith could do it. And I'm not sure Anakin's death is entirely symbolic. As religious people, the Jedi are the dying spirit of Anakin. There is only Darth Vader.
Jaeh Skywalker
Has Qui-Gon returned as well, despite not appearing in the movies?
trick
Qui-Gon returned, but was unable to maintain his physical self. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Yoda could
Jaeh Skywalker
but why? And thanks for the information.
bardock42
There are still some things I don't understand, for example the so-called "ghost trick" that you have to be dead to get to the state. Second, when does the fate of a body begin? How did Qui Gon Jinn do that? I mean he was already dead, right? Vader is of course a good question. I don't think everything fits.
trick
One thing about Qui-Gon, why he didn't disappear is simple... it's because he didn't find out the secret until he already joined the Force... but the others knew the secret before they died, and they disappeared. to preserve the physical being of him. Darth Vader also didn't leave because he couldn't keep his physical self, but he did come back and keep thanking him for the help of Yoda and Obi-Wan when he joined the Force.
Jaeh Skywalker
Why didn't Yoda and Obi help Qui-Gon and he didn't show up?
jack daniels
qui gon showed everyone how to do it then he pressed queeqs and he's been there unseen ever since he drank everyone's drinks when they weren't looking...I want to be like him when I go...lol
trick
Why didn't they help Qui-Gon? There was simply nothing more Qui-Gon could do. All hope was pinned on Luke and Leia. And it was the living Obi-Wan who would care for Luke. Since he later died, he was the only one who had a connection to Luke, Qui-Gon didn't...so why bother him?
He is dead, may he sleep peacefully in abandoned power. He did everything he could. Hahaha
This is also why Qui-Gon doesn't appear at the end of ROTJ, Luke had no connection to him, he only saw those he connected with. The entire Jedi Council could have shown up lol and they'd stand there like monkeys and say, "What are we doing here?" and Luke would think "Who are these guys!".
Understood?

In short, Obi-Wan disappeared and "one" came with the Force Witch, who explains why he returns as Force Ghost and helps Luke in part by giving him advice, such as making him appear and telling him to go to Dagohbah. .
coach
Episode III finally answered that question - this thread can now be closed.
stormtrooper501
The reason Obi Wan let Vader kill him was because Luke had to face Vader. If Obi Wan had fought Vader, it's possible that Luke would never have had the chance and therefore would never have known that Vader was his father and never have had to face him. I don't know what to say about the disappearing thing. I agree with Corran. Maybe Obi Wan and Yoda joined the squad when they died and became one so they could help Luke.
thema darth
uh...yes...that's the point. Qui-Gon was rumored to appear in Ep3, but for some reason Liam Nesson didn't want to, so GL, as always, went straight to the point with a half-hearted explanation. But I agree that he didn't show up at the end of ROTJ because Luke didn't know him, so what's the point?
OB1 surrendered to the squad and Yoda just snuck into the squad. I heard Vader "off screen" but who knows. And I heard they used young Anakin because he was physically complete last time. If he had looked old (as he originally did) he would have had no legs and two half arms... kind of weird, don't you think? That's why, at least I think so... but you could also say it's symbolic.
his of
They were smart not to show Qui-Gonn in RotS. That would pretty much ruin the ending.
Obi-Wan used the spirit trick of immortality to become one with the Force. As simple as that...
thema darth
Look, I think he would have to become one with the Force before he could do the Force Spirit trick. Maybe that's what you meant, but I don't know. I think he gave himself the power (Vader had him killed) so he could become the ghost and help Luke at times when he normally couldn't. I also always thought that once they become one with the Force, they learn things about the Force that they couldn't have known while they were alive. A bit like Anakin saying, "I know there are things about the Force you don't tell me." So they didn't know what to tell him, but since he was the one, somehow he could sense that there was something "more" out there. You know what I mean?
Rhysode de Ganner
Long before The Phantom Menace, it was known as "becoming one with the Force." Come on people.
Also, yes, you must become one with the Force to become a Force Ghost.
tangible god
How did the Sith do it back then? Have they done what the "hated" Jedi do and become one with the power they have abused?
Zev
It's actually ironic and was explained in the Clone Wars TV series created by Lucas. In III, Yoda had practically just returned from a journey Qui-Gon had taken him on to understand the light side of the force enough to "maintain his identity" after death and not just become part of the cosmic force. . Qui-Gon was unable to complete this training, so he could only speak to the living, but Yoda learned to pull himself together. Towards the end of III you will remember Yoda telling Obiwan that he needs to teach him something specific that Quigon taught him before he went to Tatooine as a hermit/guardian. Such was this training. I think the ironic part is that even though the dark side seems to be more physical and powerful...and the Emperor promised Anakin that power...the light side was the only path to immortality.
Obiwan had Vader kill him because he realized at that moment that he could train Luke much faster and better if he was in his head, which was a trick of being an immortal only communicating with one person at a time. ..in the trilogy, Obiwan could tell when Luke needed some words of wisdom or just a reminder to use the force. He couldn't have helped Luke destroy the Death Star on IV if he hadn't.

- 7. “ Look, have I made a few bad decisions? ...
- 8. “
One of the most iconic lines in the entire franchise (and in movie history), is "May the Force be with you." But there are many more lines throughout the 130+ hours of Star Wars content, and these are some of the best, broken down by which movie or TV show they appear in.
What was Obi-Wan last words? ›Many parries, rolls, and slashes later, Obi-Wan bids goodbye to his ex-apprentice with the words, “Then my friend is truly dead,” echoing another hero who will one day try to redeem Darth Vader.
What was the message in Obi-Wan Episode 5? ›We return to the flashback, where Obi-Wan manages to snatch Anakin's lightsaber and forces him to yield. He tells the young Jedi that he must stop trying to prove himself: “Until you overcome it, a padawan you will still be.”
What is Obi-Wan apologizing for? ›Obi-Wan apologizes for what he did to Anakin, but Vader assures him that he killed Anakin, not Obi-Wan. He then goes on to proclaim that he will destroy Obi-Wan in the same way. Resigned to the fact that his friend is truly gone, Obi-Wan walks away from Vader, calling him "Darth" for the first time.
Who was Yoda talking about when he told Obi-Wan No there is another? ›Yoda cryptically responded, "No, there is another." While some fans would make careers out of writing possible futures for these characters years later, many sitting in the theaters at that time had no idea what that quote implied. Now, fans know that the "another" in question meant Leia Organa.
Why is there a warning before Kenobi? ›The Latest 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Episode Comes With a Warning — for Good Reason. The message was put on the new episode for the same reason a warning was added to the premiere that dropped May 27: There is violence against children.
Why does Obi-Wan say Darth? ›While the theory seems quite plausible, Obi-Wan actually calls Anakin "Darth" in A New Hope because creator George Lucas hadn't yet established some elements of Star Wars lore. As the fictional universe expanded into the prequel trilogy, "Darth" became a Sith title as opposed to a first name.
What does Darth Vader always say? ›“Luke, I am your father.” Despite this iconic exchange occurring in one of the most climactic scenes in movie history, Darth Vader never says, “Luke, I am your father.” In actuality, he says, “No, I am your father.”
What is the dark side quote Star Wars? ›Darth Vader : Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong.
Does Vader cry in Obi-Wan? ›
Why did Vader cry in Obi-Wan? To show that he had some remorse. Part of him knew what he did was wrong but he thought it was the only way to save Padme.
Why did Kenobi leave Vader alive? ›Obi-Wan also let Vader go because Vader wanted his old master to kill him. Sometimes being left alive is more of a punishment than death. But now Obi-Wan could walk away knowing there was no hope for saving Anakin — until Luke finds a way.
Did Anakin ever beat Obi-Wan? ›Obi-Wan ended up winning, and most fans attribute his victory to the high ground. However, a more detailed look reveals two reasons why Obi-Wan would have beaten Anakin regardless of the terrain. The first reason was that the newly-christened Sith was hindering himself during the duel.
Does Reva know who Darth Vader is? ›Reva knows that Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader because she was one of his targets—a child—during the Order 66 killings that took place during the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
Does Darth Vader know Leia is his daughter Obi-Wan? ›Key details in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series connect to the original Star Wars movies, hinting Darth Vader knew and ignored Leia was his daughter.
Does Reva know Leia is Anakin's daughter? ›Does Reva know Leia is Anakin's daughter? Reva explained that she discovered a connection between Bail and Obi-Wan in the archives. She doesn't realize that Leia is Vader's daughter. Reva does attempt to use the Force to peer into Leia's mind when she kidnaps her again.
Did Obi-Wan forgive Anakin? ›Yes, when Darth Vader turned back to Anakin Skywalker and sacrifice himself to save his son, he dies and Obi-Wan uses the force to connect with Anakin's spirit. In that time Anakin apologizes to Obi-Wan, desperately asking him to forgive him for everything he has done to him and everybody over the years.
What is Obi-Wan's weakness? ›He also had to live with the fact he basically trained Darth Vader and watched him turn on the Jedi, killing countless people even after Order 66. Given the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the prequels, it is pretty clear that Obi-Wan's ultimate weakness is likely his PTSD.
Who did Obi-Wan have feelings for? ›During Mandalore's Civil War and his apprenticeship under Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan fell in love with the young Duchess Satine Kryze. The two lived on the run for over a year.
Is Leia Force-sensitive? ›Leia Organa Solo (born Leia Amidala Skywalker), a Force-sensitive Human female was at various stages of her life, a politician, revolutionary, and Jedi Knight of the New Jedi Order.
Was Yoda referring to Rey? ›
While it's not likely that Yoda was actually talking about Rey, the line could have still been laying the groundwork for the next generation of Force users and Rey's role. After all, we know Yoda can foresee future events. Perhaps Luke trained Rey to be a Jedi at Yoda's urging.
Did Yoda know about Rey? ›Yes, Yoda knew Rey had the Ancient Sacred Jedi Texts. It served a specific purpose, to remind Luke of what he told him years before, to pass on what he had learned.
Is Obi-Wan OK for kids? ›Driving the news: Disney+ released “Obi-Wan Kenobi” with a TV-14 rating, while Disney+ UK gave the show a much lower 9+ rating, according to The Direct. What they're saying: Parent review site Common Sense Media rated the series as being appropriate for children ages 10 and up.

Did Kenobi have PTSD? ›Yes. He has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We've clearly established the traumatic history, so let's shift to looking at the symptoms. He's reexperiencing the trauma through nightmares and flashbacks.
Why is Vader called Darth? ›The title "Darth" first appeared in George Lucas' 1977 film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, as part of the name Darth Vader. According to Star Wars: Behind the Magic, Lucas intended the name "Darth Vader" to suggest "dark father."
Why does Ben call him Darth? ›“Darth” basically means “Dark Lord of the Sith” or “Dark Lord” and only Sith call themselves Lords (they feel superior to Jedi so it's a self promotion if you will) so when Obi Wan calls him that he is sarcastically addressing him as such.
Why are they called Darth? ›Darth is often thought to be a combination of letters from the title Dark Lord of the Sith, a theory which is alluded to in Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force. Darth may also be a portmanteau of dark and death.
Does Darth Vader cry? ›Yes, he did. In Revenge of the Sith, Darth Vader cried because he realized that the woman he loves, Padme, doesn't “love” Vader, but rather she loves the good person, the hero of the galaxy, Anakin Skywalker.
Who is Darth Vader most afraid of? ›Star Wars: Darth Vader's Greatest Fear Has Always Been Sand.
Did Vader respect Boba? ›

What are some 3 word quotes? ›- “I'll be there.”
- “I love you.”
- “Maybe you're right.”
- “I trust you.”
- “Go for it.”
- “Got your back.”
- “How are you?”
- “I want you.”
- “Complaining is truly my strongest weakness.” ...
- “I am strong... ...

Who had a crush on Darth Vader? ›During the Imperial Era, a human female nurse served the Galactic Empire on board the Death Star under the supervision of a doctor. They both served the Sith Lord Darth Vader as his personal medical caretakers. The nurse became obsessed and psychotically in love with the Dark Lord of the Sith.
What was Anakin's last words before Vader? ›Anakin Skywalker, in one last digged-effort, before his imprisonment as Darth Vader for the next 23 years, cries out for help. He yearns for his beloved Padme, with the words, “Padme, help me.”

LeParmentier died suddenly, his son Tyrone told Derek Maki, who represented the actor.
Who is strongest Jedi? ›
Jedi Master Yoda is the most powerful of them all. This should come as no surprise, as he was the head of the Jedi Order in the prequels and was revered for his abilities during the original trilogy. Yoda's power is unmatched and was a real threat to Darth Vader and the Imperials.
Why can Vader take off his mask? ›If he were to take his mask off, the Sith Lord would soon suffocate. So it's the most crucial part of his armor. The only time he can breathe without the need for his mask is when he is in one of his meditation chambers seen in A New Hope.
Did Obi-Wan let Vader win? ›Obi-Wan knew it was only a matter of time. So, he made the difficult decision to use his learnings and become one with the force, rather than let Vader decapitate him.
How does Anakin lose his legs? ›As a young Jedi Knight, Anakin lost a hand in a battle with Count Dooku, which received a robotic replacement. He later returned the favor by removing both of Dooku's hands. Eventually, he lost both his legs and his remaining arm in the climactic duel on Mustafar between both he and Obi-Wan.
Who defeated Darth Vader? ›1 Luke Skywalker
Having faced his father once before, Luke was familiar with his tactics and used the force to gain an upper-hand. In Star Wars Canon, only Luke Skywalker can be acknowledged as the one who truly defeated Darth Vader.
